Illuminator was conceived, designed and built by Trevor Rumbold (WebComms4U Ltd - Director) and initially put into use on 24 September 2006. To see an example of the Illuminator in use on 8th July 2007 at the first Frome Festival Green Fair - Somerset, visit our Picture Gallery - Carbon Cycle was there too!
Illuminator just seemed such a natural follow-on from the success of the Carbon Cycle. Whereas the main objective of the Carbon Cycle was to enable the rider to feel the difference between powering ordinary and energy saving lamps, Illuminator actually demonstrates that you can light up 5 energy saving lamps for the same amount of energy used to light up an ordinary lamp. When in operation Illuminator is visually very eye-catching to visitors and is good at getting its message across.
The display is self powered by means of a rechargeable battery and hence does not cause a safety/trip hazard resulting from mains power cables. On a full charge Illuminator will easily last an event day. The footprint/height of this display is 0.5 m diameter x 2.1 m and requires a suggested minimum clearance to adjacent displays/objects of 1 m.
Illuminator is one of a growing number of environmental awareness displays available for hire from WebComms4U Ltd.Find out how to make a booking for this display.
